#1: LOUD AMERICAN ROADHOUSE
The manager or the Owner of the "Loud American Roadhouse”, located at 1305 Main Street in Sturgis, South Dakota, on July 30, 2022, asked several US veterans in our club (and our women) to leave. It was around noon that Saturday. We were hungry and simply looking for lunch. We came in, sat down, and the waitress got us coffee and water. Just over 15 minutes later, as we were all looking at the menus and getting ready to order, the waitress asked us to leave. We couldn’t believe it and were more perplexed than angry. She explained she could not take our orders and that the Owner or manager told her to ask us to leave. When we asked why, she said she did not know. As we quietly walked out of this establishment, one of the patrons stated, “They don’t like veterans.” I laughed, thinking it was a bad joke at first, and then he repeated, “seriously, they hate veterans,” When I asked, how he knew we were veterans, he pointed at my unit patch that is donned proudly as all the veterans in our club wear. We never saw the Owner or Manager. Apparently, he was so appalled at seeing US veterans in his establishment that he had a poor waitress do it.
Do not patronize this place. I’ve been around for nearly six decades and have never even heard of an American bar discriminating against veterans. This is a famous staple of Sturgis, and they are entitled to serve whomever they want to. It’s their business. That is the libertarian way. However, we also can express our first amendment rights by publicly pointing out their blatant discrimination of veterans. We ask that you not patronize such a place and get your food, drinks, and entertainment someplace else. That also is the libertarian way.
